POSITION SUMMARY: Assembles production components and units, such as desk and display centers, in preparation for packaging and shipment by performing the following duties:

* Assembles a variety of carts and ATO products. Takes instruction from leads and supervisors.
* Accurately interprets blueprints and assembly instructions
* Positions production parts in specified relationship to each other
* Uses various hand held and pneumatic tools including hammer, mallet, screwdriver, screw gun, hand drill, staple gun, torque wrench, etc. to secure/attach components (i.e. shelves, panels, doors, bases, etc.), and/or hardware (i.e. hinges, handles, etc.).
* Works at a bench or on a line as a member of assembly team assembling several specific parts and passing unit to another worker.
* Must maintain a work pace that is consistent with the rest of the team. May need to assist others to keep the unit flowing through the line.
* Works cooperatively as a part of a designated team. ATO assembly involves job rotation - Must be able to understand and perform a variety of tasks on the line.
* Lift unit from one station to the next at various stages of completion.
* Operates pallet jack to relocate finished components to inspection area
* Performs quality checks throughout building process.
* Reworks faulty components when required
* Records Information such as quantities, work time, date and other job information on daily time document and routing sheets
* Keeps work area free of clutter and debris

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITES: Miscellaneous other duties may be assigned to staff by superintendent or Team leader including duties in other departments

CROSS TRAINING: Due to the nature of manufacturing and the Spectrum Industries line of products, in order to achieve optimum efficiency and utilization of equipment, space and personnel, it is necessary at times for employees to be trained and work as a ‘fill-in’ in other production and/or support areas.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum high school education with six months to 1 year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. On the job training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple instructions both verbally and written as well as other correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to accurately comprehend and apply measuring device readings.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to read and interpret blueprints and other production instructions accurately.

EFFORT:

COMPLEXITY: Requires the ability to understand and follow specific instructions which may be complex and involve multiple operations. Exercise ordinary judgment; follow regular safety and quality procedures. Must follow work instructions to prevent errors. Responsible for own work but may instruct and/or assist others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to use hands, arms and fingers to operator tools, attach parts and lift products, many of these activities are repetitive. The employee is continuously required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop and crouch as part of the assembly process. The employee must continuously lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds. May lift or move (with assistance) units weighing over 100 pounds.
